Command & Control Centre Design: Components, Layout and Costs in India
Foxnet TeamA command control centre design succeeds or fails long before the first video wall is mounted. Whether you are consolidating security for a single campus or monitoring dozens of sites across India, the room has to serve operators during a quiet Tuesday night and a live incident alike. Here is how we approach it at Foxnet, and what it typically costs.
The Core Components of a Command Control Centre
Every control room is built from the same handful of layers, even when the scale differs. Getting each one right matters more than any single piece of hardware.
The video wall is the most visible element: LED or LCD panels driven by a wall controller that lets operators pull any camera, alarm map or dashboard onto the screen. Behind it sits the video management software, which ingests feeds from CCTV, access control and fire alarm panels into one operator interface. Operator consoles follow, with dual or triple monitors, ergonomic seating and keyboards or joysticks suited to long shifts.
Then comes the part people overlook: the network, servers, storage and redundant power (UPS plus generator backup) that keep the room alive. Our IT infrastructure team designs this layer alongside the display and software so nothing is retrofitted later.
Design Decisions That Shape Operator Performance
Sightlines come first. Operators should see the full video wall from their seat without craning, which usually means a viewing distance of roughly two to three times the screen height. Lighting needs to be dimmable and glare-free, and acoustic treatment keeps a busy room from becoming tiring.
Ergonomics and workflow matter just as much. A well laid out room separates the supervisor position from the operators, provides a quiet area for escalation calls, and plans cable routes under raised flooring so that adding a console in two years does not mean tearing up the room. We also design for integration from day one, so a door alarm can automatically bring the nearest camera onto the wall.
What a Command Control Centre Costs in India
Costs vary widely, but a realistic planning range helps. A compact room with four to six operator seats and a modest video wall typically starts around ₹40 to 60 lakh. A mid-sized enterprise centre with a larger LED wall, redundant servers and full integration commonly lands between ₹1 and 3 crore. National or multi-site operations centres with 24/7 staffing, resilient power and extensive integration can go well beyond that.
The biggest cost drivers are the display technology, the number of integrated systems, the level of redundancy and civil or interior works. Software licensing and annual support are worth budgeting from the start, since they shape the real cost over five years.
Plan the Room Around Your Operations
The best control rooms are designed from the incident backwards: who responds, how fast, and with what information on screen. If you are scoping a new centre or upgrading an ageing one, our team can walk you through layout options and a transparent cost estimate.
